2026 March Open Mic
Spraakuhloos, Open Mic
At Café Dox
I performed at the March edition of the monthly open mic organised by Spraakuhloos and hosted by Café Dox in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and I immensely enjoyed it! I performed 2 poems, both entailing a critique in some form of the system that we live in.
In the first one, called ‘A Manifesto of Wellbeing’, I addressed the brokenness of our times and the absolute need for change (yep, pretty activistic). In the second one, called ‘Commuting’, I expounded on that activity that is emblematic of the 9-to-5 and how it can be limiting our freedom to just be in the moment.
In total, 16 people performed, from poetry to spoken word, and song, in English, Dutch, and a little bit of Arabic as well. There were loud cheers and applause for everyone who climbed the stage and shared a glimpse into their inner worlds. It was really inspiring to see how people of all walks of life dared to perform and be vulnerable, from young GenZs, to an occasional GenX, and fellow Millennials, there was room for everyone on stage.
